A BRIEF HISTORY OF GRACE COMMUNITY CHURCH IN MADISON, CT
Grace Community Church began it’s first church service on March 1st, 1999 at the Island Avenue School, which remains our Sunday home to this date.
GCC was a church plant sponsored by the Branford Evangelical Free Church. Twelve couples got together in 1998 and with BEFC blessing and support began Sunday Evening services at homes and various meeting places in Madison. Early in 1999 the original “core group” sought out and called the Rev. Doug Nelson as our first pastor.
In September of 2002, Rev. Nelson left GCC and Rev. Walter Westerholm, the retired senior pastor of BEFC, agreed to serve as our interim pastor. Under his guidance GCC called Rev. Brad Chase to be our Pastor in December of 2003. Grace Community Church has continued to flourish and grow under the teaching of Pastor Chase.
The original Church Office was located on Bradley Road for a number of years and moved the office to it’s current location on 17 Woodland Rd. Madison, CT in 2009.
