Function and Role of the Deaconesses at GCC

Our mission is to help meet the needs of the church community through encouragement, fellowship and serving along with assisting the pastor, elders, and deacons when needed.  We generally meet monthly and our meetings begin with a time of devotion followed by a time of prayer for specific needs in the body of Grace.   Each deaconess oversees one aspect of our ministry responsibilities such as coffee hour prep, card ministry, flower coordinator, meal coordinator and creating minutes from our meetings.

This past year we have been able to serve by:

Providing meals at a time of need
Preparing communion for the worship service
Providing fresh flowers for the front table on a weekly basis
Providing coffee etc. for fellowship time after worship
Sending cards with words of sympathy, encouragement etc.
Providing graduation celebration for high school students/college
Recognizing fathers on Father’s Day
Organizing a “Souper Thaw” fellowship luncheon
Palm Sunday Breakfasts
Ladies Christmas Fellowship
Pastor Appreciation Sunday
Fellowship evening to make items for Good Samaritan boxes

Again, we continue to count it a privilege and a blessing to serve the body at Grace Community Church.  We are always open to new ideas for fellowship and service. Please feel free to contact one of the deaconesses as needs arise
